Brief History of the Newsletter
Brigadier Geoffrey Solomon published Newsletter 1/1980 on 27 Jun 1980 to coincide with the establishment of the Duntroon Society. As planned, the next issue was not produced until March 1981 as Newsletter 1/1981. By this time Professor E.R. (Ridley) Bryan, for many years Professor of English at the RMC, was well settled in as the unofficial Associate Editor. Those roles were reversed when Geoffrey Solomon resigned in time for Ridley Bryan, as the new Editor, to produce Newsletter 2/1981 in September 1981.

When both Ridley Bryan and Geoffrey Solomon resigned on 9 Aug 1983, Colonel W.J. (Bill) Slocombe (1947) became Editor for Newsletter 2/1983 with Colonel R.R. (Ross) Harding (1948) the Associate Editor. Having produced the RMC 75th Anniversary edition in December 1986, Bill Slocombe resigned having persuaded Ross Harding to offer himself as Editor for Newsletter 1/1987. Bill Slocombe remained as Associate Editor until Newsletter 2/2005 when Lieutenant Colonel Doctor M.J. (Mike) Ryan (1980) became Associate Editor.

Again, the editorial roles were reversed in June 2006 when Mike Ryan took over from Ross Harding for Newsletter 2/2006, with Ross remaining in the role of Associate Editor.
